“Love is a decision, not an emotion.”
4 Love is large and incredibly patient.[f] Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous[g] when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. 5 Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated[h] or quick to take offense.[i] 6 Love joyfully celebrates honesty[j] and finds no delight in what is wrong.[k] 7 Love is a safe place of shelter,[l] for it never stops believing the best for others.[m] Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.
I Corinthians 13:4-7 (Passion Translation)
14 Eagerly pursue and seek to acquire [this] love [make it your aim, your great quest];
I Corinthians 14:1 (Amplified Bible)
12 No one has ever gazed[a] upon the fullness of God’s splendor.[b] But if we love one another, God makes his permanent home in us, and we make our permanent home in him, and his love is brought to its full expression in us.
I John 4:12 (Passion Translation)
Love is at the heart of spiritual growth and healthy relationships. As we allow God’s love to guide us, we become more sensitive to His Spirit and more open to the blessing and power He wants to express through our lives.
Walking in love is a daily choice. We choose to yield to God’s love within us instead of giving in to selfishness. And that love grows as we stay close to Him—spending time in His Word, praying, and enjoying fellowship with Him. The closer we walk with God, the more His love shapes the way we treat others.
Victory Decision
Today I will remember what great love God has for me despite my failings. I will choose to view others the same way. From this point on I choose to walk in love.
