Arise And Overcome

“An overcomer is not one who does not fall, but one who refuses to stay down when he does.

23The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. 24Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

Psalm 37:23-24

10Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Isaiah 41:10

My enemies, don’t be glad because of my troubles! I may have fallen, but I will get up;
I may be sitting in the dark, but the Lord is my light.

                                                                                                                                                                     Micah 7:8 (CEV)

Victory Decision

I will no longer let my mistakes keep me down. Instead, I will arise, learn from them, and win.

God’s Word and Good Success

“The Word works when we work the Word.

8This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

 Joshua 1:8

Don’t get off track, either left or right, so as to make sure you get to where you’re going. And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going; then you’ll succeed. Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take.”

                                                                                                                               Joshua 1:8 (Message Translation)

Joshua 1 takes place after the death of Moses. God was speaking to Joshua (Moses’ assistant) and encouraging him to finish what Moses had started and lead the children of Israel out of the wilderness. God encouraged Joshua that the way to victory was to keep his eyes on the scripture. We must do the same. Meditating on the Word of God will keep your spirit strong and you mind renewed to the will of God for your life.

Victory Action

I have decided to study God’s Word and put it into my life. Today I will work the Word.

What is Love?

For many centuries people have celebrated Valentine’s Day all over the world. Historians believe that it was started as a Roman festival in which couples would often celebrate their love and get married. Later the church wanted to turn the festival into a Christian celebration and decided to remember St. Valentine at the same time.

While the exact origins of St. Valentine is still somewhat of a question – many believe that he was a man who, despite being imprisoned, refused to renounce his Christian faith. He pleaded before the judge for the lives of those Christians imprisoned with him. Often he was able to save those lives. Eventually, his dedication to his faith in Jesus led to him being executed. He showed his love for others and for Jesus even unto death.

Whatever the origins of Valentine’s Day we can always celebrate love. It was for love that God sent Jesus to redeem us from sin and death. Jesus demonstrated the love of the Father so many times as he healed the sick, raised the dead and gave sight to the blind. Today we can show love to those around us both in word and deed.

In 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 in the Passion Translation we read:

Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense.Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong.Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.

God loved us so much that He gave His son. Jesus loved us so much that He gave His life. There are many scriptures that speak of love and how it acts. We don’t just love when things are going great. In these turbulent times it is so important to walk in love. God has given the power to do just that through the Holy Ghost.

Romans 5:5 says, “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

How can you demonstrate love to those around you today?

Self-defeating Self-image

“God sees more in you than you see in yourself.

12And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour. 13And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. 14And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? 15And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house. 16And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.

Judges 6:12-16

In this passage of scripture the writer reminds us that there is one qualification for victory – that God be with us. As long as we are looking at our own shortcomings we will not be able to focus on the victory that God has waiting for us. Don’t feel qualified or deserving of the miracle? Well, in the natural you may not be. But God doesn’t look on your natural qualifications or what you may have done in the past. God always sees you in Christ. He sees you through the blood of Jesus. He sees you victorious in the things He sends you to and so should you!

 Victory Decision

A low self-image is a distorted form of pride and is self-defeating. I will be open to seeing myself the way God does and act accordingly.

Celebrate Former Victories

Our source of strength in prayer is remembering and speaking forth past blessings.

4One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.  5I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. 7They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.

Psalm 145: 4-5, 7

37David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

1 Samuel 17:37

Victory Action

I will speak forth in faith how God has blessed me in the past.

Feelings Follow Action

“Love is a decision, not an emotion.”

 37And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark. 38But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work. 39And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

Acts 15:37-39

 Victory Decision

As time went by and Paul chose to walk in love toward Mark, this relationship became profitable for the spreading of the Gospel.  When I act in love, the feelings will follow.  From this point on I choose to walk in love.

God Does What I Cannot

“When you come to the end of your resources, you have only begun to tap the unlimited resources of God.

1And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire; 2And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way. 8And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. 11And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water; 15And David said to him, Canst thou bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear unto me by God, that thou wilt neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company. 17And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled. 18And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives. 19And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.

1 Samuel 30

9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Victory Decision

I will do my best and let God do the rest.

Acting in Faith

“The action of heaven is waiting on faith on the earth.

19And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

                                  Matthew 16:19

11Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.

Isaiah 45:11

Victory Action

God is waiting on me to do my part. As I act in faith, God will make things happen for me.

We are Blessed

“God is mindful of me and my house.

12The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. 13He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great. 14The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children. 15Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth.

Psalm 115:12-15

Victory Confession

God will bless my house.  God always has me on His mind.

Happy New Year!

Today is the day that we mark the beginning of a new year. It is an opportunity to choose a new outlook and attitude. No matter what last year was like, we have a chance to invite God to be in charge of the new year we are embarking on. When we do, He empowers us to conquer in all situations.

Romans 8:37-39 says, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

We can rest assured that God is with us, empowering us! But everyday we have to make a choice to rejoice! Nehemiah 8:10 says, “Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” When you need strength, choose joy!

I encourage you to keep pressing into God this year. Keep pressing in for personal and national revival. We need revival and restoration today more than ever. In times past when people began to see the world grow darker and go deeper into sin they began to pray and seek God. As we do that in this new year, we can believe that change is on the horizon. God does not ignore His kids! Nothing can separate us from the love of God. But unbelief can hinder our prayers and God’s answer to our prayers. Stay in faith this year! When you are tempted to doubt, remember that Jesus said in Mark 9:23…all things are possible to him that believeth.

I am praying that God will show Himself strong to you in this upcoming year! May God’s best be yours today and every day!
