{"id":451,"date":"2026-01-08T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.calvarycathedral.org\/drbobnichols\/?p=451"},"modified":"2026-01-07T11:34:23","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T17:34:23","slug":"conversation-with-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.calvarycathedral.org\/wpbobnichols\/2026\/01\/08\/conversation-with-god\/","title":{"rendered":"Conversation with God"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u201cI<\/strong>f Jesus needed to pray, I need to pray.<strong>\u201d<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus was given to us by God to not only be our salvation, but to also be our example of a the life that God wants us to live. Pray is a key part of that life. Prayer at it most basic level is communication with God and Him communicating with us. Jesus knew it was important to spend time in communion with His Father. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><em>And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.<\/em>   <strong>Matthew 14:23<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.<\/em><strong>   Matthew 26:36<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus spoke about prayer to His disciples and to those who listened to His teaching. His parables included references to prayer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;  <strong>Luke 18:1<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul continued the teaching showing us that we should always be in prayer and that there are different kinds of prayer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Praying always with all\u00a0<strong>prayer<\/strong>\u00a0and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;   <strong>Ephesians 6:18<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Clearly prayer is important to God and should be important to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>Victory Action<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Today I set aside time to spend with God in prayer. I will have a conversation (talk <strong>AND<\/strong> listen) with my Father in Heaven.
